Yes, completely confidential. However, if I have reason to believe that a client has a concrete plan to harm herself or himself, or to cause harm to someone else, I am legally required to share the minimum information needed to keep that client (or intended target of harm) safe.

Coaching uses a forward-thinking approach, and on taking concrete steps towards creating the life you want to be living. In coaching we clarify client’s goals and identify current obstacles/unhealthy behaviors that prevent client from achieving the desired results and live from her/his full potential.
Therapy tends to focus on the past, is introspective and often less goal-oriented than coaching. Therapy can take a long time (sometimes even years), and therapists are licensed to diagnose and treat mental illnesses/conditions.
Ultimately, paths can cross both in therapy and coaching, and the end destination is a better version of you!
